Here's to Better Days...
Question: When will life get better?
Answer: Soon.
Let's just say it's been quite an eventful summer. I mean almost like one of those childhood summers, when everything new and every day brought about new adventures, fun times, new friends and plenty of material for those back-to-school "what you did this summer" essays. I mean, I have truly enjoyed this summer. Did some traveling, took a few road trips, reconnected with old friends, bonded with best friends, visited a few law schools, hit up a theme park and even made it to the beach.
Several things stuck out this summer. A little while ago I prayed that God would help me to strengthen my relationships and on some level he did. One of the things I did this summer was road trip with my best friend. It was one of those trips that a lot of people need to take. Your best friends are important people and creating those bonds are worth a lot more in the long run. Even though the last trip we took together resulted in my near death experience, it's something that I'll carry with me for the rest of my life.
The second big thing I did this summer was visit law schools. It's a big step and I pray that it's a step I'm prepared to take. It's one of those steps that define your future, one that's carved in your destiny, one that determines what happens later in life. One that prepares you, essentially, for the rest of your life. While I haven't made any concrete decisions just yet, it's not to say I'm not ready to.
And then....and then there was camp. FYC has been huge part of my life since I was 15. I've met some of the greatest friends and mentors at this camp and I can honestly say I would not be the person I am without it. It was where I met some of my closest friends, it was where I found my salvation, it was where I met God in the most intimate manner I can think of. And while the venue has changed since then, the love and awe are still present. For one week I get to spend time impacting young lives and young walks with Christ. It gets better every year and although I'm no longer a camper I strive to give every young person the same type of experience as me when I was a camper. And on some level I think I do a good job of accomplishing that.
While summer is readily coming to an end I still expect great things to happen. I see God working in my life and I see Him working in the lives of my friends and family. I know there are great things ahead, I know there are great days ahead. I heard in a movie I saw recently ''All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage and I promise you something great will come of it.''
So here's to good times and good friends...and here's to better days...
